Everyone is being affected by the recent
changes in our world economy. Many people are feeling stressed and
worried about their future. If you’re like everyone else, you may
be wondering what you can do. As a psychotherapist, I’d say it’s
definitely a time to step back and do some soul searching to find
your true values. It’s also a good time to think of how you may
want to reorganize your life.
For those of you who may feel stuck in a financial rut, I’ve put
together 10 positive tips for overcoming your stress. Whatever
you do, be sure to have fun with them!

Stress #1.
Clean up your finances! Realize
your happiness is not dependent on having money or things. Don’t
buy anything you can’t pay for today. Set a firm budget and find
fun ways to create what you need with less money.

Stress #2. Sing along to your favorite uplifting music! Singing
your blues away helps you open your mind to new creative
possibilities.

Stress #3.
Focus on loving your family and friends! Spend
time every day building positive relationships. Your relationships
are more important now than they’ve ever been before!

Stress #4.
Find inexpensive, creative ways to have fun! Take
a walk, go to the park, have a picnic, play games with your family,
laugh and be silly together!

Stress #5.
Clean out your closets and have a garage sale! Those
old forgotten things you don’t need will be treasures to someone
else.

Stress #6.
Plant vegetable and flower seeds that will grow and bloom in the
spring! Watching seeds grow and blossom gives you a living symbol of
your own creative ability to grow and change.

Stress #7.
Take a dance class and have fun moving to the music! Break
out of your rut! Learning
how to dance is sure to get you laughing and having fun.

Practice random acts of kindness! Have
fun surprising people with your kindness, both strangers and
friends!

Stress #9.
Serve others who are less fortunate! Researchers
are now finding that the happiest people in the world are those who
serve others in some meaningful way. Meditate on what would be a
meaningful service you could enjoy providing in your world.

Stress #10.
Visualize a new world peace and prosperity, with people all over the
world working together for the good of everyone! Say
these words as a daily prayer: “May all beings be happy; may all
beings have peace and prosperity!”
This
is a very exciting time to be alive! It’s very important that we
all stay positive and playful and that we research creative, new
ways to deal with our world issues. How we handle this important
crisis in our lives may very well affect the future of many
generations to come!
